The City of Fort Wayne's Winter Contingency Services will be available from December 1, 2024- March 31, 2025.

A Winter Contingency Emergency Shelter (WCES) for families will be available at the Just Neighbors Family Shelter. This shelter is designed to provide temporary, emergency housing and support during the winter months to ensure families have a safe and warm place to stay.

The WCES will be open 7:00pm to 6:45am each night at 2925 E State Blvd, Fort Wayne. Families should check in by 9:00pm. A background check will be run on all adults.

Families in need of assistance or more information about the Winter Contingency Emergency Shelter are encouraged to contact the WCES staff at 260-452-5106.

Overnight shelter for Adults:

St. Joseph Missions Women’s Shelter - single unaccompanied women who need shelter should call (260) 426-7358. Once full, women will be directed to check in at The Rescue Mission or the WCES.

The Rescue Mission is offering emergency weather bed nights to men and women who need overnight shelter during the coldest months of the year. Individuals must be 18 years of age to receive an emergency weather bed night. Individuals should be sober when they arrive and should not have any active warrants.

*If an individual believes they are ineligible for services at The Rescue Mission, they are encouraged to call (260) 426-7357 ext. 156 between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to inquire about their status and explore other short-term options.

Shelter for Families (adults with at least one minor child):

Just Neighbors - Families who need shelter should call (260) 458-9772.

Warming Stations- Open as noted for each organization below

ACPL- Main Branch- 900 Library Plaza
Open during regular business hours:

  • Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-9:00pm
  • Friday & Saturday, 9:00am-6:00pm
  • Sunday, 12 noon- 5:00pm

The Rescue Mission offers a warming shelter at                404 E. Washington Blvd., which is open to the public from 7 AM to 6 PM, 7 days a week regardless of the outdoor temperature

3 meals are also served daily.

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00am- 8:00pm
  • Saturday & Sunday, 10:00am- 2:00pm
  • Adults only please, due to the nature of services

InAsMuch Ministry: 930 Broadway

  • Mondays: 9:00am- 11:00am and 5:00pm-7:00pm
  • Wednesdays: 9:00am- 11:00am
  • Fridays: 9:00am-11:00am

Salvation Army:   2901 N. Clinton

  • Monday-Friday, 9:00am- 4:00pm

Citilink buses will serve as mobile warming stations to help our community ride, relax, and stay warm.

Hours of Operation:

  • Monday through Friday: 5:40 a.m. to 8:15 p.m.
  • Saturday: 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Anyone seeking relief from the cold can ride the buses with a valid ticket during these hours to stay warm and comfortable.

Transfer Information: To help us maintain accurate ridership numbers, we kindly ask that you transfer buses every two hours at Central Station. Drivers may also request that you switch buses throughout the day.

Travel Training: Travel training is available to help people learn how to ride our buses. Our travel trainer can assist you with reading our maps, learning our schedules, and riding the bus with you until you feel confident to ride by yourself.
